About Reiki

photo of woman receiving reikiYour physical body is alive because of the ‘life force energy’ that is flowing through it. If your life force is low or blocked, you are more likely to become ill, but if it is high and free flowing, you can more easily maintain health and a feeling of well being.

One thing that disrupts and weakens the flow of life force energy is stress. Stress is often caused by conflicting thoughts and feelings of fear, worry, doubt, anger, and anxiety that become lodged in one’s subtle energy system. Medical research has determined that continual stress can block the body’s natural ability to repair, regenerate and protect itself.

Reiki can help you relieve that stress!

The American Institute of Stress estimates that 75%-95% of all visits to doctors are due to the reaction of stress. The effects of unreleased stress range from minor aches to major health concerns, such as heart disease, digestive disorders, respiratory and skin problems.

Regular Reiki treatments can help reduce stress or help to remove it completely by boosting your immune system to an optimum healthy state and balancing your ‘life force energy’.

What to expect at a Reiki treatment:

A Reiki treatment lasts approximately one hour. You will lie comfortably on a massage table, fully clothed. We do suggest that you wear comfortable clothing to your treatment. The Reiki treatment room has a warm and calming atmosphere, soft music will be playing in the back ground.

The Reiki Practitioner will start by placing their hands very gently, usually starting at the top of your head. They will then work from the top of your head to the tips of your toes channeling Reiki energy to the areas needing it the most. The Reiki energy will make you feel very relaxed, calm and balanced.

The effects may not be felt immediately but released slowly over hours or even days after a treatment. During a treatment some people fall asleep, others have recollections of events of the past that were stressful for them and this may come up for discussion. It is not unusual to become emotional during a session.

A Reiki practitioner does not make a diagnosis nor do they prescribe substances or perform medical treatment, nor interfere with the treatment of a licensed medical professional. When you receive treatments on a regular basis you may feel less stress, less pain, and more balanced in your everyday life. Reiki treats the person’s body, emotions, mind and spirit as a whole.

Dr. Oz highly recommends Reiki, he often has a Reiki Practitioner in his operating room during his surgeries. Reiki is commonly given to Cancer Patients in Canada through the Wellspring programs and is used by the nursing staff in hospitals in the United States.

The Five Principles of Reiki

  • Just for today, do not worry.
  • Just for today, do not anger.
  • Honor your parents, teachers and elders.
  • Earn your living honestly.
  • Show gratitude for everything.
